Warmup will begin at Noon and conclude at
1:25pm.
One of the main goals of this event is to prepare
riders for the match sprints at the AVC-Hellyer (the
following Friday/Saturday) and
the various State, and National Championships.
Tactics are a very important part of sprinting and
this aspect of sprinting needs lots of practice. At 1:30pm, 3-time masters National Champion Warren
Geissert will lead a 20-minute discussion and Q&A
session about match sprint tactics. Following that,
we'll have play-by-play commentary of the
first few match sprints among experienced riders so
that everyone can learn from their live examples.
We will not be running 200m time trials for
seeding. (200mTT's are available the next day at the
Festival of Speed 1) Riders
will provide their own estimated 200mTT time and
then riders will be compiled into 4 or 5 racing
groups with riders of similar times for 2-up and
3-up sprints. If you have no idea what your time is
we'll sort it out and you can change groups if
needed.
In addition to the sprinting within the groups,
riders can "challenge" any other rider to a sprint,
and as long as both riders agree, they will face
each other in a Challenge Sprint. This is your chance to race
with your teammate, friend, rival, someone new, BFF,
SO, or
your roommate.
Sprints will begin with riders being held, just
like in championship tournaments. Riders can do as
many sprints as they like, up to 4 or 5 sprints
each, depending on time available.
Entry Fee is $15 including $5 NCVA fee. No
pre-registration. Juniors race for free.
